Ok, but how?
We're glad you asked.
While there are many potential ways to go about it, here are some great places to start.
- Support local and shop small. Every dollar spent on large e-commerce sites siphons away wealth from your community and into the pockets of the oligarchs.
- Build community. Start a community garden, a skill share, a community clean up group, and find your people. The more time and attention you take back from social media apps, the less money the oligarchs are making off of feeding you ads. As a bonus, you’ll feel better doing things to uplift your community, rather than doom-scrolling.
- Let your representatives know you oppose dark money in politics. Since 2010, it has been legal for corporations and wealthy individuals to contribute unlimited amounts of money toward campaigns. This risks corporations and the wealthy having outsized impact on the candidates that get exposure, directly impacting election outcomes. Call 202-225-3121 and give them your zip code and they’ll direct you to your representative.
- Support candidates that will tax billionaires at equal or higher rates to the rest of us. Trickle-down economics is a lie fabricated by the 1%. Over the last 40 years the only thing that has trickled down is their bs.
- Rest. Don’t burn yourself out. Systems change is a marathon, not a sprint. Find what fills you up and take time to rest deeply (away from screens!). You’ll emerge feeling recharged and ready to take action!
- Make space for joy. Rage can be a powerful energy source, but it’s not sustainable long term. Take time to listen to music, look at art, dance like no one is watching, spend time with friends, anything that gives you joy. This will also help recharge and rejuvenate you before returning to the fight.
- Buy our merch! We know, shameless plug, but it helps spread the message. Not to mention it directly supports (through our donations) non-profits who are actively furthering the cause.
